Gates Chili DB (2015) Anthony Clark Looking Forward To An Excellent Season
Kala Gause
August 4, 2013
After an offseason of football camps, combines, and 7on7 events, Gates Chili HS Junior DB Anthony Clark feels he is much better prepared for the upcoming 2013-2014 season. "I've been preparing myself for this year, I'm very excited because I see and feel an improvement in my overall skills," says Clark.
Clark stands 5'11", 165lbs, and has been working on his physical development since last season ended. "I've been in the gym, on the field and have really dedicated myself to focusing on my weaknesses," explains Clark. "I think I put on a few pounds of muscle, gotten a little faster and quicker, and my footwork is much better."
Clark says Gates Chili has expectations to do well this year. "I'm looking forward to showcasing my skills and talents this season, I feel like we have a chance to be the Section V champs this year." "We play as a team, there is no I in the locker room, and I think we really have a chance to be the best in our area," says Clark.
"His leadership qualities have been very impressive during summer workouts, and on the field his confidence has improved a lot," says Beyond Athletics Scouting Director and 7on7 coach Zane Howard. "I see a kid that has the potential to play at the next level for a major program in a few years, he's been working extremely hard this entire off-season, and has shown the comittment, desire, and ability to make improvements both on and off the field, I look forward to Clark having a great season," explains Howard.
In the classroom Clark boasts a 3.7 and made High Honors last marking period. "My favorite colleges so far are Rutgers, Florida State and Notre Dame, after football I would like to pursue a career in Psychology or maybe Digital Photography." "I don't have a top 5 yet but I really like Rutgers because I visited them this past summer, and it's a really big school, with great coaches. " "I like ND because being from Michigan, I've always been a fan, and it is a great school to attend." "I've never actually visited FSU, but I did see the stadium one time as we were driving by and to play there would be a dream come true." "After this season I would like to visit a few more schools and focus more on my recruiting options," explains Clark.
We will continue to follow Gates Chili sleeper Anthony Clark as the season progresses. Don't be surprised if you hear more of the name in the next couple of years, Clark is certainly a candidate for AGR in 2015.
